What's the process?
- I release custom slots on my website in the Custom Curios page. The announcement for this will be on my instagram. I will usually do this a few weeks before I open the custom slots.
- On the date and time please head to my website and purchase a slot to secure your order. Choose the number of slots you wish (strictly 1 slot is for 1 design).
- you will be asked to pay £40 plus postage for the slot, which is a non-refundable deposit to secure your order.
- Please then send me a message in instagram with your order number and address.
- We can then start discussing details for the design. The final price for the item will be confirmed and an invoice sent to you, using PayPal.
- Once payment is received in full. I will send you my address to send your knitwear too. Then once I receive the knitwear. I will need 6-8 weeks to develop your design.
- Please be aware that this time scale can vary and this is dependent mainly on the confirmation of you being happy with the idea for the final design and paying the invoice in full/sending your knitwear to me.
Can I make changes to my design idea
Yes, of course you can, however please be mindful this means small changes and not complete design changes. Once I start working on hand crocheting a design, it does take time due to the nature of the craft. I also develop my appliques using a freestyle technique, which means I do not use any patterns and create them bespoke, myself.
I am also a one woman machine and this is not my full time occupation.
Do you create characters like Disney or TV characters, like Peppa Pig?
In short - no I do not and this is due to copyrighting laws.
I also have my own style, which is typically seasons, woodland and magical. I am happy to develop ideas based on traditional children's story books.
What designs will you never do?
I would not create anything which may be a copy of another crochet small business design. I am part of a community of small business mamas, within Instagram and completely respect the work of my fellow insta creative mamas. I can take inspiration, but if I needed too I would be contacting the original designer.
I also would not create designs which have any kind of political nod.
What products can be sent in for this service?
I am happy to create custom designs on cardigans and jumpers.
I do also have ability to create beanies using my knitting machine, therefore can offer beanie hats in lots of different sizes.
I would charge £20 for a beanie hat plus the cost of the custom design (which is variable depending on the detail you would like on the hat) and postage for this service.
How does this work?
Ready made collections are developed throughout the year. My collections are mainly based on the seasons.
Naturally this means a collection is likely to drop in spring/Easter time, summer, autumn, halloween and Christmas.
I am hoping that as I grow as a small business I can get involved in some other collections I have dreamed of creating and collaborating - but let's see how this all plays out.
Once a ready-made collection is ready to drop I will release the planned drop date in my instagram page. Leading upto the drop I will then post sneak peaks of what will be in the collection, so that you can see what I have created. I like to create interest and engagement too in this time and find out what you would all like to see in the collection. This helps me to develop designs bespoke to my followers.
The ready made collection will then be open on my website at a set time and it would be first come first serve on the website when the collection is dropped.
How many of each design would be available?
There would be one in each design so they really are special! However if one particular design gets lots of interest. I will make a similar design in different sizes.
Can one of your ready-made designs be requested as a custom design?
Yes absolutely! I will recreate the design and tailor it to your knitwear of choice. Please be mindful that you may not find the exact knitwear used for the ready made design, however you could look for a likeness.
What would be available in size for the ready made collection?
A range of sizes in cardigans, jumpers and hats. I usually have more control on hats as I can make them myself. I start from newborn upto age 5 for the hats.
Cardigans and jumpers are harder to judge as I source those in from other knitters, charity shops. I try and get baby, toddler and child if I can. I am hoping that as I grow as a business I can ask knitters to create me different sizes for my ready made collections.
